The author of the Twilight series of # 1 bestsellers delivers her brilliant first novel for adults: a gripping story of love and betrayal in a future with the fate of humanity at stake.
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.
Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.
Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time.

Customer Rating: Summary: I Loved This Book!! Comment: This book was truly one of the best books of this year! This author is now on my list of favorites. The souls in this book make you actually see things from their point of view which is unbelievable in a book about body snatchers!
Customer Rating: Summary: Loved it! Comment: The book starts out a bit slow. The first 60-70 pages offer a necessary backdrop for the overall story, but it could get a bit tedious. Once you have the basic info. of those first few chapters down, prepare to get totally sucked into the story. The plot, the characters, and the depth of their experiences and interactions actually gave me an appreciation for the slow start. I loved the book, it was great. I honestly believe that it is as good as any of the books in the Twilight series (which I also loved)!
Customer Rating: Summary: The Host Comment: I got this item with several other books... the store that sent it was prompt. I'm having a hard time getting into it. Will plug along and finish the book but not as well written as her "Twilight" series.
Customer Rating: Summary: Disapointing Comment: I am a hugh fan of twilight and other short stories by Stephenie Meyer....but this book was very hard to get into. I like books to take me to a different world emotionaly. For instance Twilight made me feel euphoric and excited for the characters. This book just felt less romance and more Si-Fi. I understand that is what the author was going for but as a Twilight Fan reading this book because I like the author I was disapointed in how different it was. So It wasnt a bad book just not my type.
Customer Rating: Summary: How did this book get on my Recommendations List? Comment: I have never before reviewed a book without reading it, but I dislike vampire novels more than I can say. I don't have any idea why Amazon would recommend this for me. Please do not ever include any vampire, living dead or similar books to me.
