This is very much the first time I put my hands on Aperture and this book was really helpful. Even though it's a quite complex program, this book leads you to different cenarious you are expected to find when using the application in real projects. The examples are very good and I already feel confortable with the screens and commands. I'm indeed very suprised to see how much I learned in a couple of days. I use the program in my macbook and the book in my iphone. This is quite good because I don't have to keep changing from Aperture to Kinkle app. I've reloaded the original files I've downloaded and start to study the book all over again. I want to make sure I'm able to perform the tasks shown without any doubts. Feel confident, this is a top choice.

Aperture is an outstanding program for photo archiving and retouching. This book helps you get the most out of it. There is a lot to learn but this program gets you throughout it.

I'm a new Mac user and at the same time my passion is photography. So I bought for my new Mac the Aperture software: I think this is the best book about this program for the clear text and the complete explanations.Very useful indeed!
It's OK but not how I learn 3 out of 5
This book is fine to get a step by step overview for learning Apreture but is not layed out in the way that I learn to use software. It teaches key stroke commands and I prefer using my mouse for doing things. For some key strokes work best but not for me, I am a mouse clicker. I tend to learn new software by trial and error and like a book that is more of a reference manual for that which I don't understand.
Based on my way of learning, If I was a software manual writer I would give a quick overview of software In one chapter then detail reference each major function under separate chapter titles. Just the way I learn from books. Not that this book might be fine for others.
