Sentence Correction (1 of the 8 books in Manhattan GMAT's Preparation Guide series) provides a highly organized and structured approach to the variety of questions in this verbal content area. Students are presented with every major grammatical principle and minor grammatical point tested on the GMAT. The book offers a unique balance between two competing emphases: test-taking strategies and in-depth content understanding. Practice problem sets build specific foundational skills in each topic and include the most advanced content that many other prep books ignore. As the average GMAT score required to gain admission to top b-schools continues to rise, this guide provides test takers with the depth and volume of advanced material essential for succeeding on the GMAT's computer adaptive format. Book also includes online access to 6 full-length Simulated Practice GMAT Exams at Manhattan GMAT's website.

Customer Rating: Summary: Very good for SC concepts Only. No practice questions Comment: Sentence Correction is a very important part of the Verbal section of GMAT. It is not only used in the direct SC questions, but also in the incorrect answer choices of RC & CR. The SC Guide from Manhattan GMAT is very useful in understanding the concepts of grammar and how they are applied in GMAT. Best feature is that it takes you through a sequence of chapters, thus addressing all the concepts, with some examples at the end of each chapter. However, the examples are plain incorrect sentences and not the GMAT style questions with answer choices.
Good thing is that every page has a useful tip on the side and the format of the text and style makes it easier to grasp the important tips & tricks.
There are no practice questions in this book. At the end of each chapter there is a list of Question numbers from The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 11th Edition & its Verbal Supplement, which corresponds to the concepts taught in that chapter. There is also a big matrix in Appendix, which tabulates these questions to concepts. I didn't find it of much use, since in real exam, you don't have time to think that which chapter the question is from. Moreover, the actual exam questions use more than one concept.
In addition to the text, you get a code to go online to Manhattan GMAT website and get access to 6 full-length tests and one SC exercise. Some may find this useful. However, I found their questions to be a bit more difficult than those in OG.
In summary: very useful book. Recommended to buy along with the OG and its verbal supplement.
Customer Rating: Summary: If SC is ur weakness, this is the best book for you! Comment: SC was definitely one of my weaknesses. I have completed 3 online diagnostic test SO FAR. In each test, almost 80% of SC answers were wrong.
Understanding the usage of have/ has/ had, difference between Like vs As and If vs Whether, usage of right idioms...this book has it all. I have seen drastic improvement in my mock test score so far.
I have all these books:
Kaplan
OG
Princeton
Nova Press
But none could give me a reasonable explanation on SC section.
The book is slightly expensive, but I think its worth it!
Customer Rating: Summary: a MUST buy! Comment: I took an expensive prep course and still fell short of needing better material to prepare for the GMAT. My tutor recommended this to me and it is bar none the holy grail for conquering sentence correction on the GMAT.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good for basics lacks practice questions Comment: It is good book to build basics, but does not have practice questions. You can read this book in one day. For the money, it is nothing compare to the Official Guide.
Customer Rating: Summary: worth the money Comment: Really good book. all the concepts clearly explained. I think its better to read this book once you have covered at least one other book like princeton, kaplan etc. (the gmat guides).
