Customer Rating: Summary: CPA Advice and Solutions Comment: CPA Technology Advisor is a magazine written and designed exclusively for CPA professionals. More specifically, it is aimed at those who work in small to medium sized tax and accounting firms and because it is written in this manner, the articles contained within the pages of CPA Tech Advisor often deal with issues that are important only to those who make a living as a CPA. It is common to find reviews/previews of new technology products and services, like accounting software and special auditing methods. It is also common to find advice on shortcuts and innovation in the world of accounting, helping to make the process of balancing debits and credits that much simpler for CPA professionals.
The writing in CPA Technology Advisor is a little bland and this is due, of course, to the nature of the magazine and its primary reading base. This magazine is designed for CPA people- one of many types of professional employees who have little spare time on their hands and who need answers quickly. Because of this, the contributors don't waste any time. They talk directly and express themselves using as few words as possible. You won't find many creative articles in a magazine like this. The writing/editing process is direct and to the point.
Advertisements are common in CPA Technology Advisor but what is unusual is that many of the ads are exactly the same each month and are found in exactly the same location in every issue. Other magazines do this, but it seems more prevalent in CPA Tech Advisor. This isn't normally a big deal, but it does add to the magazine's tendency to be monotonous and boring. This publication is definitely intended for a specific group of readers and there is little value for anyone else.
CPA Technology Advisor is, overall, a passable magazine for someone who works in a CPA firm and it does offer direct solutions and plain spoken advice. There isn't much excitement to be found in this magazine and there isn't much that will appeal to anyone who doesn't work as a CPA or, at least, in an accounting role. It ranks as an average magazine and if I didn't have a work history in accounting, I would probably rate it lower. But I can understand its value for people working in this type of occupation and for this reason, I will give CPA Technology Advisor a small recommendation.
