Customer Rating: Summary: PC users, BEWARE !!!!!!!! Comment: I had spent many days looking for a controller for my computer. I carefully searched many others, but this one seemed best. I read all reviews, then I ordered it. When I arrived, I was so excited, I nearly fainted. About 3 hours later I had REGRETTED buying it. I tried using it to play games on my computer such as, Max payne 2 and Hitman 2. I tested the controller and it was fine but however, THE GAMES DIDN'T EVEN DETECT IT. I spent so much time trying to figure out how to get to play the games with the controller. Out of 5 games I had, only 2 were able to detect the controller. I would've given it 2 stars but,I contacted the seller for help, and they did not respond.
All of this turbo, mapping, and false programming was just frustrating me.
I don't have a PS2. Now, based on the other reviews, you should get this controller only to use with a PS2. DO NOT buy it for your PC. However, the Thrustmaster 2-in-1 controller is unique among PS2 controllers as it features dual analog triggers that are instantly programmable to any button OR analog stick. You can assign any analog sensitive controller function to the dual, XBOX style triggers located under the standard PS2 shoulder buttons. Why use the standard X button for acceleration in GTA, when you can get finer control from a trigger. Why tire your thumb by holding up on the left analog pad to walk forward, simply re-assign it to an analog trigger. The options are endless, and you will often have fun simply playing around with the controller itself. And when you factor in its Turbo feature, and PC compatibility, well, you have a winner. I was lacking of a 2nd PS2 controller ever since I bought the PS2. And after I bought a new PC with WinXP, all my old PC gamepads did't work anymore cause my new PC doesn't have the old sound card game port. I have to get a gamepad with USB connection and then I 've found this. Saved me effort, money, and time to get this one controller instead of getting two.
Now, for the gamepad itself. The grip sure is comfortable with the nicely modded shape and the rubber handles.
You have 12 bottons and you can customize them. There are 2 analog trigger type buttons under the 4 shoulder buttons which you won't find on regular PS2 controller. The triggers are great for driving games.
The 2 analog sticks on the face of the gamepad is better than regular PS2 controller cause they are modded with a concave button top. You can hold your fingers on top of the analog sticks firmly without having them shifting around or losing the grip like you did on a regular PS2 gamepad which the analog sticks tend to lose under the thumbs.
There is the turbo mode for those "1942" or "In the Hunt" type crazy shooting games.
Trouble free installation on PC with WinXP. You don't even need a driver disc. Just plug in and calibrate it and it is ready.
I have yet to test the rumble/vibration feature, but when I do, I will update this review.
You won't go wrong with this 2 in 1 gamepad. Save you time, money, and space if you have both PC and PS2. Customer Rating: Summary: At last ! Comment: At last a nearly perfect Playstation 2 controller! The dual triggers are a major improvement over the awkward shoulder buttons of the standard controller. Also, the rubberized grips are slip-free and very comfortable for long gaming sessions. Now for the drawbacks: the analog sticks are a bit too loose and the cheap white paint used for the buttons will rub off quickly leaving you with four identical black face buttons. But, all things considered, this is the best third-party controller I have yet tried and I strongly recommend it for Playstation 2 owners.
