I've had the exact same problems trying to tighten the strings - they won't stay tightened. One of the strings was even already broken when I received the item. Trying to get in touch with this merchant is impossible, and the fact that they refuse to pay return shipping on defective merchandise is RIDICULOUS!!! I'm going through Amazon for a refund!! They were really nice about changing my order; however, I never recieved my goods.
