Mat is thick enough to protect carpet, but not so thick as to be unwieldy. With some effort, I was able to cut a hole in it using my carpet knive, to allow my heater vent to be open. Plastic seems to be pretty good quality.

I am using it for my elliptical trainer in a room with carpet. Compared with other mats I can find in Sears/Sports Authority/Dick's Sporting Goods, the quality of this mat is far better than the rest.

I am completely satisfied with this purchase. The mat is about 1/3 inch thick and the material is very durable. I placed it under a gym quality treadmill. It was exactly the right size. The mat was slightly textured on one side. It rolled out flat and did not have any adverse smell.

I use this mat for my recumbent exercise bike. I am happy this purchase so far. I have had it for two months now.
