Editorial Review:

The next step in Bose noise reduction headphones. A smaller, lighter on-ear design--delivering the same levels of acclaimed performance as our around-ear QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones. You enjoy the same total noise reduction and audio quality, with an equally comfortable fit.

No headphones will eliminate all noise. But the Bose technologies in QuietComfort headphones work together to make almost any listening experience more rewarding.

For travel, work and home
Wear QC®3 headphones when you fly, and you'll notice a dramatic reduction in engine noise the moment you turn them on. For quality audio, simply plug them into your portable player or the inflight entertainment system.

Use them at home or at work and you should find distractions fading softly into the background. You can pair QC3 headphones with most music-enabled mobile phones too, using our optional mobile communications kit.

Hear the difference for yourself
Our full-spectrum noise reduction fades background distractions and dramatically decreases engine roar on planes. Quality Bose sound reveals audio nuances you might have missed. And a lightweight, on-ear fit provides hours of comfortable listening.

Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone technology in QC3 headphones electronically identifies, then dramatically reduces noise, while preserving the audio or tranquility you desire. Proprietary signal processing and TriPort® acoustic headphone structure also assure quality audio performance--and deep low tones--from these small, lightweight headphones. It's a unique combination of benefits and technologies available only from Bose.

Makes traveling much more enjoyable 4 out of 5

I travel a lot due to my family being all over the country and if it were not for the Bose Q3 travel would be a really boring. I also like how compact they are; perfect to reduce more bulk to haul around. The case is great! I have a iPod Nano that I use with them to listen to Podcasts on flights, and the Nano fits nicely right inside the Bose case. The pair is a perfect travel companion. Fragile but protect them, they are a real nice value!

Good but 3 out of 5

Well they are very nice, but you can't lay down on your side to listen because if you do the headphones make a high pitch warning sound. I dun likes to lay down and listen to his am talk radio but not with these headphones. Also, they get kind of sweaty on the inside.

Great on planes, but whatever.

Not worth $359

Sometimes quirky but I can't live without them 4 out of 5

I received the Bose QuietComfort 3 for Christmas in 2007 from my husband (he never knows what to give me so I hinted it heavily this time).

I instantly loved them and I mainly use them for my workouts. I hate being in the gym and have to listen to fans, AC, TVs, etc when I want to listen to my music. I do have to note though that while they cancel out a lot of the noises going on around you, they don't cancel out all. Sometimes I was able to hear the instructor of the spinning class shouting (but this was also due to the way that gym is constructed)... but she was canceled out enough for me to think someones pomeranian dog was barking nearby. I still hear the people that play racquetball one story below me at the gym when they shout out in anger (there are windows open towards the down stairs racquetball rooms so that one can watch the players from the upstairs cardio room). Or sometimes when the TV is turned up in one of the small cardio rooms (that used to be a racquetball court) and you are unfortunate enough to be right next to the wall from which the sound bounces off, the headphones will not cancel out that noise enough and you are able to hear a lot. So sometimes the way the room or structure in which you are will transmit acoustics matters how effective noise will be canceled out.

But compared to your average run of the mill headphones they win big time. On an airplane they make it possible to listen to what is said in an in-flight movie compared to all the times with regular headphones and the constant wall of airplane noises making it impossible to really know what was just said.

When wearing them while walking, riding the bus/train/streetcar: No more cellphone conversations from strangers will get to your ear. Just your music.

Now to the quirkiness:
I noticed that from time to time there was a slight clanking sound inside one of the headphone earpieces when I walked or ran. It came and went. Don't know what caused it to start or to stop. It is not a very loud noise (actually very slight) , just one that gets you worried that your headphones might be broken or about to break down.

A few weeks ago the left speaker of my headphones started to pop from time to time though. It sounded like a slight tap on a microphone. And unfortunately that popping turned into a plop and then a low and permanent "whoosh". The left speaker still emits music but the "whoosh" that is overlapping it, makes it impossible to enjoy the clear sound that once was mine. So I went ahead and ordered new ones. My old pair served me well for 2 1/2 years on a daily base throughout sweat drenched workouts for hours, flying back and forth with me to Europe and Asia, making it possible to listen to music on my MBP while surfing the internet while others were watching TV in the same room (this time without the TV sound spoiling the sound of music with me not having to turn up my volume on the MBP but rather turn it down). I really can't wait for the new pair of headphones to arrive. I had to use some normal ones yesterday and had to turn up the music so loud to hear it and what I heard wasn't what I was used to. I was able to hold a conversation without removing the headphones from my ear and the music still playing. It was awful... I became so spoiled by my Bose Headphones. Working out just wouldn't be as pleasant without them.

Pretty good headphones 4 out of 5

Great sound, but full ear covreage is still the best way to kill airplane noise.
