Get the commercial version. 3 out of 5

I've had 3 BOSU's, 2 home products, 1 commercial. Both of the home units I've thrown out because they would not stay inflated. I'm not sure if it was the plug combined with an overly soft, thin, flexible cover, or what. Bottom line is they simply would not stay inflated. In contrast, the commercial unit, which seems to be made of thicker, more resilient material, stays inflated fine. If you can get a good one that doesn't leak, it really is a wonderful home exercise device. There are many different stepping, lunging, bending kinds of exercises you can do on this getting good flexibility and aerobic exercise at home, in a small space. Also, I wouldn't recommend spending money on the frame, as you can just put the half-ball on the floor and lean against a counter or chest for balance.

The best fitness tool on the market! 5 out of 5

I have had and used this Bosu now for a week and I am absolutely thrilled that I bought one! For the price and free shipping, I couldn't go wrong! Mine came with 4 DVDs and an air pump. It has rubber grips on the platform side so there will not be any slipping regardless of activity and floor type that you have. The air pump works just fine and identical to the one that came with my balance ball. I do notice that it does leak a little air over time, but it's from the pressure of stepping/standing on it. Nothing I would rate as faulty with the bosu but I've experienced the same thing with my balance ball as well. Some reviews elsewhere on amazon have discussed concerns with this.

I am finding that the Bosu takes my workout intensity up a few notches while being not only low impact, but also very supportive on my joints. I have had 1 knee surgery with another coming soon and certain exercises, even rehab exercises, hurt me to do. By doing them on the Bosu, it takes that pain away, namely in the knees. I can also do a lesser range of motion with for example lunges and rear lunges but still feel all the work in the legs/glutes like I would if I did the full 90 Degree range. What's better is that bc of the balance issue of the Bosu, I am working deeper into my thigh muscles and I notice a lot of work in the muscles around my knee; exactly what I've been trying to get for over 1 year now with other routines and pieces of equipment!! If you have lower back issues and weakness from injury this will also be a worth-while investment. Doing traditional strength and even compound movements on the Bosu will really get deep into the back muscles, especially if this again, is a weak area for you. 1 arm rows, deadlifts, overhead presses, even chest presses, are all felt on the bosu not only in the intended muscle groups, but in the lower back and core. You get much more work accomplished in the same amount of time compaired to strength without this Bosu. I love the feeling of doing an "Upper Body" only rotation and my legs and core are still working hard...even shaking afterwards depending on the exercise. I can get a solid total body workout with warm up and extended stretch in 50-55 minutes flat...30 if I do more compound movements (upper and lower at the same time). This tool is very fun and very effective!

Some resources for the In-home Bosu user are Tracey Staehle's Parts Series DVD and Sculpt Sweatfest DVD. She also uses the Bosu once in a while in her Circuit Blast DVD. If you want a book, I highly recommend "Get On It!: BOSU Balance Trainer Workouts for Core Strength and a Super Toned Body" sold here on amazon.com for a really good price. I love my Bosu and I can't imagine not ever having one again. When this one wears out, I'll buy another one! Excellent for core, strength, functional fitness, and balance training!

Can someone confirm whether this version is the 65cm one, or if it is the smaller 55cm version? Thanks.

How to fix the BOSU--It's worth it! 4 out of 5

I purchased a BOSU a month ago and am really getting a good workout both in balance and in strength--by placing the blue side on the floor and doing a plank while holding onto the base.
Anyway, I didn't realize it shouldn't be placed in sunlight or near heat registers and today, while sitting in the sun, the blue "half ball" came apart from the base. Couldn't find any repair instructions at the BOSU site or online. But--I looked over the base carefully and found a screw in each handle. To repair--unscrew the screw in each handle and the BOSU's rim will come apart from the base in two pieces. Then completely deflate the blue half ball. At that point, line up the edges of the half ball (which look like a fork-crimped pie crust edge) with the edge of the base (according to the indentations of the base that remain on the ball). Replace the screw on one of the handles and tighten enough so it holds the two halves of the rim together--but don't tighten completely. Then, kind of like replacing a bicycle tire, fit the edge of the ball and the edge of the base into the rim and put the rim around the edges of the ball and base together. Screw the second screw into the other handle and tighten--the rim won't meet if you don't have the edges of the ball and base together and inside the rim. When the rim meets, tighten the screw on each handle. Re-inflate the BOSU and you're good to go!

perfect present 5 out of 5

Bought the BOSU for my daughter. She's a physical therapist and familiar with the product from her work. She was very happy to receive it and has been using it ever since. It is great for working core muscles. It can be used with the flat side down when you begin. If that becomes old hat, flip it over and start working with the ball side down. It takes a lot of balance and practice on this side. Best core work out available. Great product at a reasonable price.
