No better scanner/software combination for the money. I and all my QuickBooks clients use it in conjunction with QuickBooks data to link documents with QuickBooks transactions and list items. I use a third-party software program called SourceLink made by Personable to attach the scanned documents. This allows for effortless electronic paper storage. You always know where your documents are because they're tied to either individual transactions in QuickBooks or to items on any of QuickBooks lists, including customer names, vendor names, item names, etc. Don't spend a lot of money on a scanner! Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC is all you need.
The software that comes with it also allows you to scan documents directly to e-mail, directly to the printer, to Microsoft Word using OCR (optical character recognition), Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or to any folder on your hard drive. The scanner also comes with Adobe Standard 9.0 which itself sells for as much as $300.

This product cannot be used without software. But if you lose the CD, Fujitsu does not offer a means to download the software, and no clear means to contact them for a new CD.

Super compact, easy to use and the scans are crisp and clean. I was so thrilled with the speed of the scan and the ease of attaching them to email. Just what I needed. I only wish i would have had the for the past 5 years. I cannot imagine how much time I would have been able to spend with my kids instead of waiting for slow scanners or faxes to my PC to come through.
It's so small that when not in use it will fit right in my office cabinet or drawer.
Received it earlier today. I was way behind getting files into my PC for email delivery so I installed the software and hooked up the system in about 5-10 minutes. I'm running Windows 7 so I was worried but before buying I called Fujitsu and they said it would be a seamless install/hook-up and they were correct.
I had 8 real estate files I needed to upload to the company's internal site so I figured hours of waiting and scanning was ahead of me. Each file had at least 70 pages to scan so well over 500 pages. I was complete in less than an hour. The searchable feature is unreal. So easy. Highlight the words and boom the doc is searchable by the highlighted words. LOVE IT~ hope it holds up!
High quality scanner 5 out of 5
I was very impressed with the quality of the images produced with the scanner as well as the speed. I purchased this for a business trip which required me to scan ~1500 color pages in one day. The pages feed easily as long as you only do 20 at a time; anymore caused the scanner to jam. The best thing about the scanner for me was that it scans double sided when it senses that there is writing on the back of a sheet of paper. You don't have to change the properties, it's as simple as loading the pages and hitting the start button. After scanning is complete you can preview the image before saving and then save in a variety of formats.

Very happy with my new scanner. Needed something fast and compact. I had the prior model and has been in heavy use for the last year without any major issue. The only thing I still don't get is how to organize the documents properly. I can not drag and place a document on top of other to make one big. I used to do this with another software, but maybe I need to take my time to learn how to use it, which I haven't done. Definately recommend.
